Kentia Palm - Howea Forsteriana
Commonly known as the Kentia Palm, Howea forsteriana is a relatively slow-growing, lovely native palm from Lord Howe Island with feathery fronds. It’s well suited to adding a tropical feel to patios, undercover or protected areas, or as screening. Cascade palms require a warm position, with full to part shade, protected from afternoon sun. Also suited to very bright and airy positions indoors with good circulation. For enhanced growth and flowering we recommend using Troforte M Indoor & Patio Slow Release fertiliser at half the recommended application rate. The Kentia palm reaches 9m height and 4m width, smaller indoors.
Water: Water well and often when freshly planted and during hotter periods. Mildly drought tolerant once established but does best with regular moisture. Indoors allow to dry between waterings.
Sun: Indoors bright indirect to full sun (North, South or East facing windows). Outdoors in full shade, some morning sun or dappled positions. Keep out of Westerly facing windows or afternoon sun exposure.
Soil: In the garden a fertile, well-draining soil enriched with organic matter. We recommend using Aussie Organics Premium Soil Conditioner and Charlie Charcoal prior to planting. Indoors a well-draining, fertile indoor mix. We recommend using The Home Plant Co Indoor Potting Mix.
