The Aspidistra is a native of China and features long, oval-shaped, pointed dark green leaves that emerge from the soil with seemingly no stems and grow to two feet. It gets its name "Cast Iron" as it can survive lots of neglect and growing conditions that many other plants can't tolerate, such as low light conditions.

Water: Low to moderate watering, water well and then wait until the soil has almost dried out before watering again.

Sun: Low to Moderate Light Levels. The Cast Iron plant is an adaptable houseplant that will cope with any light level except total darkness or full sun.

Soil: Cast-iron plants tolerate a wide range of soils, as long as they have good drainage. They prefer organically rich soil with a slightly acidic to neutral soil pH.
